Patna: The Bihar government has announced free coaching classes for girls from poor families to help them prepare for JEE and NEET exams. The scheme will start from this academic session in Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential Schools.
According to the education department, the programme will first be launched in 232 schools that run classes from IX to XII. About 5,834 girls will benefit every year. Each student will attend two hours of online coaching daily, which includes a foundation course and a target course.
For this project, the government has tied up with coaching institute Physicswallah. Experts from the institute will prepare study material, take online classes, conduct tests, and provide practice papers. Students will also get live and recorded classes, doubt-solving, and mock exams.
The government will spend around Rs 23 lakh every year on the scheme. From next year, more schools will be upgraded to Plus-Two level so that even more girls can benefit. Officials said this is the first time such a coaching facility is being offered in these residential schools.
