Gayaji: Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, widely known as Bageshwar Baba, reached Gaya on Saturday for the annual Pitru Paksha Mela, marking his third visit to the holy city after 2023 and 2024. Arriving by special plane at Gaya airport, he will be based in Bodh Gaya, where he is set to perform Pitru Tarpan, Tripindi Shraddha, Pinddaan and the Ekadasha Bhagwat.
Organisers confirmed that his original arrival, scheduled for September 10, was shifted due to a change in plans. Local priests and devotees have prepared extensively for his stay, with expectations of a massive turnout. Thousands are likely to join the rituals, which are being conducted to honour ancestors and reinforce the significance of Pitrukarma traditions.
During his visit, Bageshwar Baba may also spend time at the Vishnupad Temple and Falgu Pindvedi, two of Gaya’s most sacred pilgrimage spots. According to local accounts, his grandfather performed Pinddaan in Gaya in 1988, a tradition now carried forward by the spiritual leader.
