Patna: A 21-year-old pregnant woman, Soni Devi, lost her life in Vaishali on Friday night after floodwaters prevented her family from reaching a hospital in time. The incident occurred in Bahlolpur Diara of Mahnar block, one of several areas affected by heavy rainfall across Bihar.
Soni Devi went into labour at home while the area was submerged due to flooding. Her family struggled to find a boat to reach medical help. Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force reached the site only after several hours, by which time Soni Devi had given birth to a girl but her health had deteriorated critically. She passed away shortly afterward.
