Majorganj: The rising water level of the Bagmati river has sparked concern among residents and authorities in Bihar, as erosion intensified in Rasulpur village of Majorganj block. Anti-erosion work is underway at the site, while the state administration has shifted into action mode in anticipation of possible floods.
A meeting chaired by Block Development Officer Chandan Kumar was held at the Majorganj block headquarters to discuss flood disaster management and control measures. The meeting concluded with the formation of a joint committee for flood control, including Senior Deputy Collector Priyanka Kaushik, Zonal Officer Vinita, Nupur Singhasini, Rajputana Rifles Commandant Rudra Pratap, and public representatives.
Committee members inspected the erosion site in Rasulpur and directed the contractor to expedite anti-erosion efforts. Training will also be conducted by Aapda Mitra to prepare life jackets using bottles and thermocol for use in flood-affected areas. Additionally, a request has been sent to the district administration to provide boats for emergency situations during floods.
To curb erosion, the Bagmati project team is implementing bamboo piling barricades and sand sack placements. However, officials said boulder piling, which is critical for erosion control, will begin only next year.
The meeting was attended by police station inspector Lalit Kumar, BPRO Vishal Rao, Mukhiya Raghavendra Kumar Singh, and several local representatives and revenue staff.
