Patna: Traffic movement in parts of the city will be restricted from 5:30pm on July 30 following the conclusion of voting for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, as election teams transport EVMs and VVPATs to the strong room at AN College.

The restrictions will remain in place until the collection and deposition process is completed and normal traffic movement resumes, according to the traffic plan issued by the police.

Traffic Restrictions Around Boring Road

Movement of general vehicles will be suspended on the stretch between AN College and Pani Tanki Mor via Sahdeo Mahto Marg (Boring Road).

Traffic will also be restricted from Boring Road Crossing towards Tapasya Mor, AN College and Pani Tanki Mor.

The restrictions will not apply to fire tenders, ambulances, hearses, vehicles carrying patients, vehicles involved in judicial work and vehicles engaged in the EVM and VVPAT collection process.

Diversion Routes

Vehicles heading towards Boring Road can use alternative routes through Nehru Path-Boring Road Crossing, Boring Road intersection, Boring Canal Road and Rajapur Pul.

Vehicles travelling from Kurji Mor towards Boring Road will be allowed only up to Patliputra Roundabout (Golambar). From there, small vehicles can use alternative routes to reach their destinations.

Other vehicles will be diverted towards Atal Path, passing beneath the Rajiv Nagar ROB from Sai Mandir Mor.

Vehicles travelling from Kurji Mor towards Patna Junction will be routed through Rajapur Pul, Boring Canal Road, Boring Road Crossing and the Boring Road intersection.

Routes For EVM And VVPAT Movement

Election teams carrying EVMs and VVPATs will reach the AN College strong room through either of two designated routes.

The first route will be Ashok Rajpath–Rajapur Pul–Boring Road intersection–Tapasya Chowk–AN College Main Gate.

The second route will be Bhattacharya Crossing–Dakbungalow–Nehru Path–Boring Road Crossing–Boring Road intersection–Tapasya Chowk–AN College Main Gate.

After depositing the voting machines, vehicles will return through Atal Path or via Patliputra Roundabout (Golambar) from Pani Tanki Mor.

Parking Arrangements

The Atal Path service lane starting from Pani Tanki Mor and the open ground opposite Pataliputra Sahyog Hospital have been designated as parking areas for vehicles involved in the process.

Two-wheelers belonging to officials and staff engaged in depositing EVMs and VVPATs will be parked at Dumdum Park, opposite SK Puri Park.

Commuters travelling through Boring Road, Pani Tanki Mor, AN College and adjoining areas on the evening of July 30 are advised to account for the restrictions and use the designated alternative routes.
