Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for large parts of Bihar, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and heavy rainfall over the next three days.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, unsettled weather conditions are expected from July 29 until the morning of August 1, with gusty winds of 30–40 kmph likely in several districts.
The weather office has advised people to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during storms and take shelter in safe locations during periods of lightning and heavy rain.
Yellow Alert For July 29
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur.
These districts are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching 30–40 kmph.
No weather warning has been issued for the remaining districts on this day.
Alert Expands On July 30
The warning will extend to more districts on July 30.
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Jehanabad, Patna, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj.
Residents in these districts have been warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

Heavy Rain Forecast For Four Districts
On July 31, the Yellow Alert will remain in force for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui.
Thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 30–40 kmph are expected across these districts.
The IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall in Supaul, Araria, Purnia and Katihar, where localised waterlogging and reduced visibility may occur.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents to remain cautious during the period of unstable weather.
