Bhagalpur/Patna: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, hosted a grand Kisan Diwas (Farmers’ Day) celebration to honor progressive farmers who have made notable contributions in agriculture and allied sectors. The event aimed to inspire farmer-centric development and promote sustainable, scientific farming practices across the region.

The programme, attended by 290 participants—including 176 male farmers, 97 female farmers, and 18 officials—was held in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and dignity. Senior officials of BAU, including the Directors of Extension Education, Research, Agriculture, Seed and Farm, as well as subject matter specialists, were present to lend the event additional gravitas.
Farmers were recognized for their innovations, high productivity, value addition, and community-based initiatives. Speakers highlighted key aspects of the “Developed India – G. Ram Ji Bill 2025,” including increasing farmers’ incomes, women and youth empowerment, climate-smart and sustainable agriculture, natural resource conservation, skill development, and strengthening the linkages between research, extension, and farmers.
In a message delivered at the event, Vice-Chancellor Dr D.R. Singh emphasized the pivotal role of farmers in India’s economy:
“Farmers are the backbone of our country’s economy. Through scientific innovation, timely extension services, and active participation of farmers, the goal of a self-reliant rural India can be achieved. Bihar Agricultural University remains committed to promoting sustainable and profitable agriculture in partnership with our farmers.”
The event concluded with an interactive session and a formal vote of thanks, reaffirming the university’s commitment to empowering farmers through research, extension, and capacity-building initiatives.
