Saran: The counting of votes for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections began at 8am, and the excitement in the Chhapra constituency has been unmatched. This seat has become one of the most high-profile battlegrounds of the election because Bhojpuri cinema star Khesari Lal Yadav is contesting from here as the RJD candidate. The contest has generated huge public curiosity, with people wondering whether stardom will convert into votes.
As per the early figures released by the Election Commission, the results are not currently in favour of Khesari Lal Yadav. BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari has taken a strong lead in the initial counting. She has received 3,301 votes so far, while Khesari Lal Yadav has secured 2,327 votes. This means he is trailing by 974 votes at this stage. The numbers show that Chhoti Kumari has taken control of the first position from the very beginning.
Other candidates are also trying their luck from the Chhapra seat. Shak Naushad from the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) is in third place with 184 votes, and Jan Suraj Party’s Jai Prakash Singh is fourth with 158 votes. A few independent candidates and other regional players are also in the race, but none of them have yet made a significant impact.
While early trends across the state suggest that the NDA may once again form the government in Bihar, the final outcome remains uncertain. Some top constituencies are being led by the Grand Alliance, while others are showing an NDA edge. In Chhapra too, the situation could change as more rounds of counting take place. For now, the big question remains — will the voters of Chhapra choose a popular film star entering politics or continue their support for the BJP’s representative? The answer will become clearer as the counting progresses.
