Begusarai/Patna: A fire broke out on Friday morning at a furniture and electronics showroom located on the first floor of a commercial complex on GD College Road in Begusarai.
The incident caused concern among employees and local residents after smoke was seen emerging from the premises. Firefighters later brought the situation under control, preventing the blaze from spreading further.
Employees noticed smoke while opening showroom
According to officials, employees arriving to open the showroom noticed smoke coming from inside the premises. Upon inspection, they found a section of the showroom on fire and immediately alerted the fire department.
The mall is located in the Ratanpur police station area, one of the city’s busy commercial zones.
Fire services deploy multiple vehicles
Following the alert, the fire department dispatched several fire tenders to the site. Firefighters launched an operation to contain the blaze and succeeded in extinguishing it after sustained efforts.
Smoke had spread across much of the floor, prompting concern among people in and around the complex. However, the fire was contained before it could affect other parts of the building.
No injuries reported
Authorities confirmed that there was no loss of life or injury in the incident.
Shweta Kumari, Sub-Divisional Fire Officer (SDFO), said the department received information about the fire at around 10:30am and immediately mobilised firefighting teams.
Preliminary findings suggest a short circuit may have caused the fire, although the exact cause remains under investigation.
Limited damage to furniture and electronics
Mall operator Sumit Kumar Singh said smoke was noticed when staff arrived to open the showroom. A subsequent inspection revealed that some items had caught fire.
According to Singh, the blaze appeared to have started in a sofa before smoke spread across the floor. He said prompt action by employees and the fire department helped prevent more extensive damage.
Officials said some furniture and electronic goods were affected, but the losses appeared limited.
Operations return to normal
A crowd gathered around the mall following the incident, but authorities said the situation was fully under control.
Normal activities in the mall and surrounding area resumed after the fire was extinguished and safety checks were completed.
