Patna: Following the conclusion of the nomination process for nine Assembly constituencies in West Champaran district ahead of the 2025 Bihar elections, the wealth declarations of candidates have drawn significant attention. The most striking is that of Rankaushal Pratap Singh, alias Guddu Singh, the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate for Lauriya, who has declared assets totalling Rs 373 crore.
Singh, a builder and real estate entrepreneur, is now recognised as the district’s wealthiest candidate. His declared holdings include agricultural land valued at Rs 2.58 crore, non-agricultural land worth Rs 352 crore, and shares and securities worth Rs 5.51 crore. His wife, Saloni Singh, has assets of Rs 131 crore and investments worth Rs 6.59 crore.
The family owns seven luxury vehicles, including two Toyota Fortuners, an Audi, and an Innova. Household jewellery comprises around 3.4 kg of gold owned by his wife and daughters, while Singh himself declared 600 grams of gold and diamond jewellery. Singh and his wife also possess foreign-made firearms.
Despite the wealth on display, Singh’s affidavit notes loans totalling Rs 14.46 crore in his name and Rs 1.12 crore in his wife’s name. He maintains residences in both his ancestral village of Kaithwalia in Chanpatia block and a luxurious property in Patna.
