Bhagalpur: Health workers in Bhagalpur district will now have to mark their attendance through video calls. This rule applies to staff working in health and wellness centres, sub-centres, and block hospitals. The decision comes after many complaints of staff not coming to work on time or being absent without notice.
Officials said that workers like CHOs, ANMs, nurses, and data entry operators must now join video calls using Google Meet or Zoom every day to show they are present. They will also need to share a photo in their official WhatsApp group as proof. If any worker is absent for seven days without reason, their salary will be stopped.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ashok Kumar, issued the order after reports of negligence from health centres in rural areas. Many of these centres are not checked regularly, and some staff take advantage by coming late or not showing up at all. This causes problems for patients, who often have to go elsewhere for treatment.
Officials hope that this video attendance rule will stop carelessness and improve services in the district. Daily monitoring will now be done to make sure health workers are on duty and helping people as expected.
