Bhagalpur: Bhagalpur city is set to get a fresh, green look as the Municipal Corporation has announced plans to develop three new parks and beautify an existing pond. Officials say the project will not only make the city more attractive but also provide open spaces for recreation and health-related activities for residents. This development is expected to improve the quality of life in the urban area and promote a cleaner and greener environment.
In the first phase, work will begin on the construction of Gendkhana Park in Aliganj and the renovation of the pond in Jaiprakash Udyan. The park will be built at a cost of Rs 2.85 crore, and Rs 70 lakh has been earmarked for the pond’s beautification. The Municipal Corporation had floated tenders for both works last month. Two contractors have applied for the park project and three for the pond renovation. The Chief Engineer has completed the technical evaluation of the bids.
According to officials, contractors who qualified in the technical bid have been given five days to raise any objections. The financial bid will be opened on 16 September to finalise the contractors. If there are no major objections, the work order is likely to be issued by the end of this month, after which construction and renovation work will begin without delay.
At the same time, under the Amrit Mission 2.0 scheme, another park will be built at TNB Collegiate Ground with an estimated cost of Rs 2.32 crore. The Municipal Corporation has already issued the tender for this project and has set a target to complete it within 12 months. The technical bid for this park will be opened on 20 September.
These projects are part of the city’s larger plan to provide better public spaces and encourage residents to spend more time outdoors. Officials believe that once the parks are ready, they will serve as important centres for leisure, walking, exercise and community gatherings. The beautified pond at Jaiprakash Udyan is also expected to become a popular spot for families and visitors.
