Bhagalpur: From August, travelling in government buses in Bhagalpur is set to become more convenient as the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation introduces a smart ticketing system. Based on the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation model, this initiative will see e-ticketing machines installed across the entire fleet.
According to officials, 50 e-ticketing machines are being allocated to the Bhagalpur Transport Division. These machines are expected to reach the depot by mid to late August. Currently, over 40 buses operate from the Bhagalpur depot, all of which will soon be equipped with this technology.
Conductors will receive formal training at the headquarters to ensure smooth implementation, while senior officials across divisions have already been trained at the state level. Four computer systems and operators will also be deployed in Bhagalpur to monitor the e-ticketing process around the clock.
Additionally, a mobile app is being developed to provide passengers with essential information such as routes, bus numbers, arrival and departure times, and seat availability at a single click.
Regional transport authorities said that this digital shift aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and commuter convenience as part of Bihar’s broader efforts to modernise public transport services.
