Patna: The Bihar Health Department has issued an alert to all districts and hospitals amid concerns over rising dengue cases during the monsoon season. In a directive released on Friday, the Additional Chief Secretary of the department instructed all medical colleges and hospitals to ensure the availability of dengue testing kits and reserve beds equipped with mosquito nets for affected patients.
Municipal bodies have been asked to intensify fogging and anti-larva spraying in urban areas, while similar measures will be carried out by the Health Department in rural regions. Special emphasis has been laid on preventing waterlogging, which creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes, particularly in localities that reported high dengue cases last year.
District Magistrates will monitor these preventive measures regularly. As part of preparedness, 30 beds will be reserved in medical college hospitals, five beds each in Sadar and sub-divisional hospitals, and two beds each in health centres. Authorities have been asked to ensure adequate availability of platelets for patients and increase bed capacity if required.
The guidelines were finalised in a recent meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary to strengthen dengue control and ensure coordinated action between health officials and municipal bodies during the high-risk monsoon months.
