Ara/Patna: In one of Bihar’s biggest drug busts this year, Bhojpur Police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested four alleged smugglers and seized three kilograms of heroin valued at over Rs 5 crore on Thursday.
The arrests were made near Geedha overbridge under the Geedha police station area after officers intercepted a suspicious car that attempted to flee a checkpoint. “When the vehicle was searched, heroin and other items were found concealed inside. All four men in the car were taken into custody immediately,” said Ranjit Kumar Singh, Sadar SDPO-2.
Those arrested were identified as Vishal Kumar of Saraiya Balua, Arun Kumar of Chhotki Sasaram, Abhishek Pandit of Ranisagar, and Rahul Singh of Deoria. Police said the group is linked to a wider smuggling network.
Officials added that the value of the seized heroin is pegged at Rs 3 crore by official estimates but would fetch more than ₹5 crore in the illicit market. Interrogation of the accused has led to the identification of local handlers and mafias, with further arrests expected.
The operation, launched after intelligence suggested narcotics were being moved through the district, involved heightened surveillance along highways and major routes. Police have described it as a “significant breakthrough” in their ongoing crackdown on organised drug trafficking.
