Bhojpur: A shocking incident took place in Bihar’s Bhojpur district on Tuesday when a young woman was shot dead in broad daylight while returning from the market. The incident happened in Dullamachak village, under the Chauri police station area, near the Surya Temple. According to eyewitnesses, the woman was returning home on a motorcycle with her brother-in-law when armed men opened fire on her from close range. She was hit on the right cheek and died on the spot. The attack has created panic and anger among the villagers.

The deceased has been identified as Nikki Devi, aged 24, wife of Rohit Rai, a resident of Dullamachak village. Police said Nikki was returning home after receiving medical treatment when the armed assailants, who were allegedly waiting for her, shot her dead. Her brother-in-law, who was accompanying her, managed to escape, leaving the motorcycle behind as chaos unfolded. Locals rushed to the spot soon after the shooting and blocked the road, demanding that the killers be caught immediately.

Senior police officers, including Piro ASP Krishna Kumar Singh and Chauri Police Station Officer Jairam Shukla, reached the scene with additional forces to control the situation. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it to Ara Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officials have started a detailed investigation, collecting evidence and questioning locals to identify those responsible. ASP Singh said the situation was now peaceful, and security has been increased in the area to prevent further tension.

While police have not confirmed the exact reason behind the murder, locals suspect it could be connected to election rivalry between groups in nearby villages. The shocking nature of the killing has left residents fearful, with many saying that such violence during the day shows how unsafe the region has become. Authorities have assured the public that the culprits will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken.

The murder of Nikki Devi has sparked deep outrage across Bhojpur and surrounding villages. The sight of a young woman losing her life in such a brutal manner has shaken the local community. People are demanding justice and stronger law enforcement to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. For now, Dullamachak village remains tense but under police watch as the investigation continues.
