Patna: A 31-year-old Bhojpuri singer in Patna has accused Bhojpuri actor Amarendra Pratap Singh of rape, alleging that he repeatedly exploited and assaulted her during their five-year live-in relationship.
The singer said she met Amarendra during stage performances, and the two later began living together. “He always promised to marry me. I believed him,” she said in her statement. “When I started asking him to marry me, his behaviour changed. He began to threaten and torture me.”
According to the complaint, the actor used casteist slurs, harassed her, and even slapped her publicly at Patna Junction after she refused to continue the relationship. “He wouldn’t let me travel or perform freely,” she alleged.
The victim claimed Amarendra threatened to kill her on several occasions—on April 15, June 21, and July 18 of this year. She initially lodged a complaint at the women’s police station in Patna on June 21, but no FIR was registered.
After repeated appeals to the SC/ST police station and the SSP’s office yielded no action, she approached the court. Following the court’s direction, the SC/ST police station finally registered the case.
Station Officer Rajkumar confirmed the registration, saying: “The case has been lodged based on the court order. An investigation is underway, and appropriate action will follow.”
