Big Makeover for Patna: Riverfront Walkway from Digha to Golghar to Start in July

Patna’s new 6km riverfront park will offer walking tracks, butterfly zones, and parking for 16,000 vehicles.

Patna: Patna is set to get a brand-new riverfront park with a long pathway for morning walkers. The project, called Samagra Udyan, will stretch from Digha to Golghar and work on it will begin in July. The Bihar State Path Vikas Nigam has already started the process and will choose the construction agency in the first week of next month.

The new park will cover the space between Ashoka Rajpath and JP Ganga Path and will be turned into a green area over the next two years. The total cost of the project is Rs 330 crore. A 6km long walkway will be built for people to walk or jog in the morning. The pathway will be built higher than the flood level so it does not get damaged during floods.

There will also be a huge parking space in the park, with room for 16,000 vehicles—4,000 four-wheelers and 12,000 two-wheelers. This will help during big festivals like Chhath when many people visit the Ganga banks. The Samagra Park will also be connected to Sabhyata Dwar, creating a beautiful riverfront stretch from the Patna Collectorate.

One special attraction of the park will be a butterfly garden. This area will have many different types of plants to attract colourful butterflies and will be a fun and educational place for children. The Tourism Department is selecting an agency to build this part of the park. Once complete, Samagra Udyan will be a new favourite spot for Patna’s people.
