Patna: Travelling from Bihar to Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal is set to become easier, with the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) preparing to expand its interstate bus services.
A total of 149 new AC and non-AC deluxe buses are being brought to Patna for operation on interstate routes. According to the corporation, 78 buses have already reached the Phulwarisharif depot, while the remaining buses are expected to arrive by the end of August.
New Buses to Connect Bihar with Several States
The new deluxe buses will operate on routes connecting Bihar with Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
The expansion is expected to benefit students, workers, traders and other passengers who frequently travel between Bihar and other states. The additional services are also expected to provide an affordable alternative to private bus operators.
Special Focus on Festive Season Travel
The expansion comes ahead of the festive season, when a large number of workers and students living in other states return to Bihar.
BSRTC is preparing to increase bus operations during this period to accommodate the expected rise in passenger demand.
Some of the newly introduced buses are already being operated on the Patna-Deoghar route in view of the ongoing Shravani Mela.
Direct Bihar-Haryana Bus Service in the Pipeline
A direct bus service between Bihar and Haryana has also received approval in principle. Discussions are reportedly underway with other states to expand interstate bus connectivity further.
Once operational, these services are expected to provide passengers with more direct travel options and reduce dependence on private transportation.
AC and Non-AC Buses to Offer Better Travel Facilities
According to BSRTC, the new deluxe buses have been designed with long-distance travel in mind. They are expected to feature comfortable seating, improved suspension, air-conditioning in applicable services and essential safety features.
The expansion is aimed at making interstate public transport more comfortable while keeping fares relatively affordable for passengers.
Five Electric Pink Buses Reach Patna
Meanwhile, the arrival of PM e-Pink buses has also begun in Patna. Five electric pink buses have reached the state capital so far and are being sent from Pune in phases.
The introduction of electric buses is expected to further strengthen public transport services in urban, inter-district and rural areas.
Interstate Transport Network Set for Expansion
With 149 new deluxe buses being added to the fleet, Bihar’s interstate public transport network is expected to receive a significant boost.
Passengers travelling frequently to Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand could particularly benefit from the expanded services, especially during the upcoming festive season.
