Patna: The Bihar government has carried out a senior administrative reshuffle, appointing Chandrashekhar Singh as secretary of the information and public relations department, while relieving Anupam Kumar of his duties to take up an assignment with the central government.
A notification issued by the general administration department confirmed that Kumar, who had been serving as secretary to the chief minister’s secretariat as well as holding charge of the information and public relations and parliamentary affairs departments, will proceed on central deputation.
Bandana Preyashi, secretary of the social welfare department, has also been relieved to join the Union government. Both Kumar and Preyashi have been appointed as joint secretaries in separate departments in Delhi, with their new roles set to begin on May 1.
Singh, a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, will take on additional responsibilities alongside his existing roles in the chief minister’s secretariat and the disaster management department. He also serves as chairman of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation.
An alumnus of Allahabad University, where he completed a master’s degree in philosophy before earning a doctorate, Singh has previously served as district magistrate of Patna and as a divisional commissioner. He has also held several sub-divisional officer postings earlier in his career.
