Patna: Weather conditions across Bihar remain mixed, with some districts experiencing intense heat while others have seen relief due to thunderstorms and rainfall.
In the state capital, Patna, residents are likely to get respite from the heat over the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department’s latest five-day forecast.
Cloud Cover And Rain Ahead
On April 27, the maximum temperature in Patna is expected to hover around 36°C, with a minimum of 24°C, accompanied by overcast skies.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rainfall in the city for the next four days, with similar conditions expected on April 28 and April 29.
Temperatures are likely to dip slightly, with maximum temperatures projected to fall to around 33°C by midweek.
Continued Showers Till May 1
Cloudy skies and intermittent rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected to persist on April 30 and May 1, with maximum temperatures around 33°C and minimum temperatures near 23°C.
Officials said the change in weather could bring significant relief from the recent heatwave conditions.

Contrasting Weather Across State
While Patna and several northern districts have witnessed a drop in temperatures due to easterly winds, parts of southern Bihar—including Gaya, Dehri and Bhabhua—continue to record temperatures above 40°C.
Rainfall has been reported in districts such as Araria, Katihar, Purnia and Sitamarhi, bringing temporary relief but also causing damage to crops in some areas.
Storm Alerts Issued
An orange alert has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in districts including Kishanganj, Gopalganj and West Champaran over the next two days.
Wind speeds during storms may be strong, with lightning activity also expected.
School Timings Revised
In view of the heat and changing weather conditions, Patna district authorities have revised school timings.
District magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S. M. has directed that classes in schools and anganwadi centres should not be held after 11:30 am until April 30 to safeguard children’s health.
Officials have advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms while taking necessary precautions against heat exposure.
