Sabour/Patna: A three-day national conference on “Resilient Soil Health Management with Resource Conservation for Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability” will be held from February 18 to 20 at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, in Bhagalpur district.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Academy of Natural Resource Conservation and Management, Lucknow, in collaboration with BAU. It aims to deliberate on innovative strategies for sustainable soil health management, efficient resource conservation technologies, climate-resilient agriculture and environmental sustainability.
The event will bring together scientists, academicians, policymakers, researchers, extension professionals and students from across the country to exchange knowledge and present research advancements in soil science and natural resource management.
Dr Himanshu Pathak, director general of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and former director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Government of India, will attend as the chief guest at the inaugural session.
The organising committee is chaired by Prof D R Singh, vice-chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, who has been associated with promoting research and innovation in agricultural sciences.
The conference is being coordinated by Dr Anshuman Kohli, chairman of the department of soil science at BAU; Dr Sanjay Arora of the Academy of Natural Resource Conservation and Management, Lucknow; and Dr Atul Kumar Singh, president of the academy.
The programme will feature keynote lectures, technical sessions, panel discussions, poster presentations and interactive forums. Themes include soil resilience, carbon sequestration, precision nutrient management, conservation agriculture and sustainable natural resource utilisation.
Organisers expect participation from leading agricultural universities, research institutions and other stakeholders committed to long-term agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability.
The conference is expected to serve as a platform for scientific dialogue and collaborative partnerships aimed at strengthening resilient soil health systems and promoting sustainable farming practices in the face of climate change.
