Patna: Sapna Kumari, a constable with India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and native of Ara in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, has clinched three medals at the 21st World Police and Fire Games, currently underway in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
Competing in archery, Kumari secured gold medals in both the field and 3D archery categories, along with a silver in target archery. The international multi-sport event, held from June 27 to July 6, features participants from police, fire, and other emergency services from around the world.
Kumari’s performance has been hailed as a significant boost for Indian sport, particularly in the realm of archery. Her participation at the Games came through her selection to represent the BSF, underscoring the growing contribution of uniformed services to India’s sporting achievements.
Officials from Bihar’s sports department praised her success, calling it “an inspiration” for athletes across the state and a testament to the talent within the country’s security forces. The state government and various sporting institutions have extended their congratulations to Kumari, applauding her for bringing pride to both Bihar and India on the global stage.
