Patna: Bihar’s government has instructed banks to resolve all pending applications under the PM Surya Home Free Electricity Scheme by March 10, in a move aimed at accelerating the adoption of rooftop solar panels and net meters across the state. The directive came during a review meeting at Vidyut Bhawan chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, Secretary of Energy and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Corporation.
Senior departmental officials, bank representatives, and vendors attended the session, where the Energy Secretary stressed the need to minimize unnecessary documentation requests that slow down the approval process. “Undue delays or additional document demands will not be tolerated,” he said, underlining the government’s focus on efficiency.
Officials also set strict timelines for the second tranche of loans to beneficiaries. Physical verification of households that have installed rooftop solar panels and net meters must be completed within one week, ensuring that financial support reaches the intended recipients without delay.
The meeting reinforced the importance of a transparent and streamlined implementation process. Bank representatives and vendors were urged to prioritize speed and accountability, with the broader goal of making solar energy more accessible and promoting sustainable energy adoption across Bihar.
