Patna: Banks across Bihar will remain shut for three consecutive days from March 27 due to the festival of Ram Navami, followed by the fourth Saturday and Sunday, potentially disrupting branch-based banking services at a crucial time near the end of the financial year.
According to the holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India, bank branches in Bihar, along with select regions including Bhubaneswar and Bhopal, will be closed on March 27, to mark the festival.
The closure will extend into the weekend, with all banks nationwide shut on March 28, as it falls on the fourth Saturday of the month, and again on Sunday, due to the regular weekly holiday.
The three-day shutdown means there will be no in-branch services during this period, affecting activities such as cheque clearance, demand draft issuance, and account-related services. Customers who need to complete urgent transactions have been advised to plan ahead.
Despite the closure of physical branches, digital banking services will continue to function normally. Customers will still be able to use mobile banking and net banking platforms, along with UPI-based apps, to carry out transactions. ATM services are also expected to remain operational.
Online fund transfer systems, including NEFT and RTGS, will remain available, ensuring that essential transactions can proceed without interruption.
With March marking the end of the financial year, the period is typically busy for taxpayers and businesses finalising accounts. Customers are therefore encouraged to check the holiday schedule in advance and complete any necessary banking work before the long weekend to avoid delays.
