Patna: In a significant step toward strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response systems, AIIMS Patna successfully hosted a demonstration of BHISMCUBE (Basic Health and Immediate Support Modular Cubes) on Tuesday. The event witnessed participation from over 500 individuals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, hospital administration, security and fire safety officers, and other frontline responders.
The demonstration showcased how BHISMCUBE can serve as a rapid-response mobile medical unit in mass casualty situations. The modular cube system enables the setup of a fully functional emergency hospital at disaster sites within 12 to 45 minutes, depending on the training and efficiency of the deployed personnel.
Each BHISMCUBE contains 72 RFID-tagged boxes, with every box specifically equipped to handle a particular medical emergency. The use of RFID technology enables rapid identification and deployment of necessary medical supplies, helping responders act swiftly within the “golden hour” — the critical time window where timely treatment can save lives.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Tanmay Ray, Retired Chief Surgeon of the Armed Forces and chief innovator of BHISMCUBE, led the core demonstration. Along with his team, including Vishal Ji, he explained the utility, structure, and operational advantages of the cube-based modular health system.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Tanmay Ray stated, “BHISMCUBE is not just a tool — it’s a revolution in emergency health response. It brings structure, speed, and life-saving precision to chaotic disaster environments.”
Messages of support were also received from Prof. (Dr.) Saurabh Varshney, Executive Director, AIIMS Patna, who extended his warm wishes to the organizers and participants, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in enhancing institutional and community readiness.
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, accompanied by Saraswati Vandana, and included welcome addresses by key officials. The live demonstration was held in the IPD Foyer area, where participants interacted with the BHISMCUBE units firsthand.
Many senior faculty and Nursing officer including Dr Anup Kumar, Dr Anurag Kumar, Dr Majid Anwer, Sajin, Laurence, Miss Sakshi Tiwari, Miss Mona, Miss Deepika Rathore, Amit Mittal, Irshad, Sangeeta and Vinod were identified as the master trainer.
Dr. Anil Kumar, Head of Trauma & Emergency and Nodal Officer for BHISMCUBE at AIIMS Patna, who warmly welcomed all dignitaries and participants for the event. In his address, Dr. Kumar emphasized the importance of early and effective medical intervention in disaster scenarios and outlined the training roadmap, which includes developing master trainers who will further train doctors, nurses, police, fire officers, and paramedics across the state.
In closing, Dr. Anil Kumar noted, “The demonstration reinforces our commitment to empowering health systems to respond efficiently during emergencies. BHISMCUBE is a testament to innovation meeting necessity in disaster management.”
All stakeholders agreed that the initiative marks a milestone in India’s journey towards more agile and integrated disaster and emergency response frameworks.
