Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has launched free coaching for JEE and NEET preparation for Classes 11 and 12 students across 155 selected Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Plus-2 schools in Bihar.
The board has also initiated the process of connecting students from Classes 9 to 12 in 700 model schools to its interactive learning app, Vidya Saathi. The app will provide free access to live teachers around the clock for subject-related queries and doubt resolution.
BSEB Chairman Dr Thiyagarajan SM issued instructions on the initiative during a video conference with deputy secretaries deputed to the offices of District Education Officers across the state on Tuesday.
Coaching Underway In 155 Schools
The free evening coaching programme for JEE and NEET began on July 16 in 10 designated schools in Patna. Online coaching has started in the remaining 145 schools.
Students in these schools are being provided subject-specific videos prepared by expert teachers in line with the JEE and NEET syllabi. The lessons are being delivered through televisions and smart boards.
The board is also establishing a modern studio at its headquarters and plans to introduce live classes for students in the 145 schools through the facility.
Physical Coaching At 21 Centres
Physical JEE and NEET coaching is currently being conducted at 21 centres. An academic residential coaching programme is also operating at Patna Collegiate School in Dariyapur and Bankipur Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Golghar.
A free non-residential coaching programme has additionally been running since the 2024-26 academic session at nine divisional district headquarters: Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Chhapra, Purnia, Saharsa, Munger and Bhagalpur.
Vidya Saathi To Connect 700 Schools
The board has directed all District Education Officers to expedite the process of connecting Classes 9 to 12 students from 700 model schools to the Vidya Saathi app.
District Education Officers have been asked to coordinate with school principals to facilitate the rollout.
Through the app, students will be able to interact with live teachers 24/7 to understand concepts and resolve doubts across subjects. The platform will also provide PDF-based study material that students can use to prepare their own notes.
Students Can Interact With Teachers Through Video
A key feature of the app will allow students to see teachers on video while submitting questions. The teachers, however, will not be able to see the students.
Teachers will respond to students’ subject-related questions and help clarify concepts through the interactive platform.
Dr Thiyagarajan SM said the free JEE and NEET coaching in 155 model schools, along with the interactive learning facility across 700 model schools, would support Bihar Board students preparing for competitive entrance examinations.
The initiatives are aimed at expanding access to preparation resources and helping more students compete in examinations such as JEE and NEET.
