Patna: Bihar is set to experience widespread rain today, accompanied by thunder and lightning, as the Meteorological Department forecasts a dramatic shift in weather patterns. Heavy rainfall is particularly anticipated in one or two places within Araria, Kishanganj, and Supaul districts, for which an orange alert has been issued.
Additionally, a yellow alert is in effect for districts in the eastern and north-central parts of Bihar, warning of thunder, lightning, and strong winds gusting between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. North Bihar is expected to receive significantly more rainfall compared to South Bihar.
Statewide Rain Brings Relief, Temperatures Fluctuate
According to Meteorological Department records, light to moderate rain occurred across the state, including Patna, on Saturday. Madhubani district recorded strong winds reaching speeds of 52 kilometers per hour. The widespread rain and cloudy conditions led to a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures across the state, while minimum temperatures saw a slight increase, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing humidity.
Valmiki Nagar and Dehri recorded the state’s highest temperature at 36 degrees Celsius, while Agwanpur in Saharsa experienced the lowest at 24.1 degrees Celsius.
Patna to Remain Cloudy with Chances of Rain
The capital city, Patna, is also expected to remain cloudy on Sunday, with a likelihood of rain accompanied by lightning and thunder in isolated areas. On Saturday, the city experienced intermittent drizzle and light rain throughout the day, providing a respite from the humid conditions. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
