Patna: Bridge construction work in Bihar is going on quickly to improve village roads and connectivity. The Rural Works Department has approved 4,415 bridges so far under different schemes. Agreements have been signed for building 3,482 of these bridges, showing that the government is serious about the work.
Out of these, 2,551 bridges have already been built. These bridges are helping thousands of villagers reach schools, markets, and hospitals easily, even during the rainy season. Work on 931 more bridges is going on at a fast pace and officials are checking the progress regularly.
Most bridges are being built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Under this scheme, 2,017 bridges have been approved and 1,512 are already complete. Many bridges are also being built under state schemes like the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana and NABARD-funded projects.
Rural Works Minister Ashok Chaudhary said that bridges connect villagers to education, health, and development. “Every bridge reduces distance for school children, farmers, and patients. Our government is building bridges with full determination and care,” he said. The state hopes these bridges will bring faster development and better lives for people in rural Bihar.
