Patna: Nitin Nabin, newly appointed national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), made a high-profile appearance in the Bihar Assembly on today, receiving a warm and emotional welcome from senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It was Nabin’s first visit to the House since taking on the top party role.
Nabin was greeted with bouquets and handshakes from prominent political figures, including the state’s two Deputy Chief Ministers, LJP State President Raju Tiwari, RLM Legislature Party Leader Madhav Anand, the BJP state chief, and several other senior leaders. His reception was described by observers as “grand,” with members of the House standing in applause as he entered.
In his address, Nabin lauded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for transforming Bihar’s image over the past two decades. “I saw Bihar’s earlier image during my studies abroad,” he said, “and the work of the state government has earned Bihar respect across the country.”
Reflecting on his political journey, Nabin recalled lessons from his late father, saying newcomers to politics should focus on public service and learn to raise their voices with dignity. He emphasised his commitment to carrying forward his father’s ideals and remaining connected to the people.
Nabin also spoke about strengthening Bihar’s image through governance and development. “Serving in the House has taught me to work with dignity, whether with the ruling party or the opposition,” he said. “My goal is to make Bihar a source of pride and respect across the country.”
His address drew praise from across the House. JD(U) leader Vijay Chaudhary said Nabin’s appointment demonstrated that Biharis were trusted nationwide and described it as a matter of pride for the NDA. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary called the occasion historic, noting that it was the first time a sitting MLA from Bihar was entrusted with leading a major national party.
Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar highlighted Nabin’s youth, noting that taking on such a responsibility at just 45 is a source of inspiration for Bihar’s next generation. “His name carries a positive connotation, and his journey will motivate many,” he said.
Nabin’s new role as BJP national president places him at the forefront of national politics while keeping Bihar prominently in the spotlight, signalling a significant moment both for the party and the state.
