Patna: Bihar Building Construction Department Secretary Pranav Kumar on Tuesday reviewed the progress of major infrastructure projects across the state and directed officials to ensure their timely completion without compromising construction quality.

The review meeting, held at the Visvesvaraya Bhawan office in Patna, covered projects under all divisions of the department, including the electrical wing. Progress, construction quality and execution timelines of several major schemes were discussed in detail.

Additional Secretary, Engineer-in-Chief, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers attended the meeting.

Bihar Lok Bhawan projects gather pace

Construction work on several buildings within the Bihar Lok Bhawan complex in Patna is progressing rapidly.

The projects include Rajendra Bhawan, the Governor’s Secretariat and a Guest House. The G+1 Guest House is at an advanced stage of construction, while work on Rajendra Bhawan, a B+G+1 structure, and the Governor’s Secretariat, a B+G+2 building, is also underway.

Digital Museum to showcase Bihar Legislature’s history

The department is constructing a Digital Museum on a 1.74-acre plot inside the Bihar Legislative Assembly complex in Patna.

Work currently underway includes column shuttering and RCC casting from the plinth to the first floor, along with shuttering for the ground-floor roof. The proposed building will have a ground floor and one upper floor.

The museum is planned to digitally showcase information about Bihar’s Chief Ministers, Legislative Assembly Speakers, Legislative Council Chairpersons and MLAs who have served since the inception of the state legislature.

It will also highlight the 100-year history of Bihar’s legislature through digital displays.

Bihar Engineering University building largely complete

Construction of the Bihar Engineering University on an approximately five-acre site in Patna has largely been completed, with essential finishing work now underway.

The main building has been developed as a G+4 structure, with facilities designed to meet the administrative and operational requirements of students, faculty and staff.

Joint Office Building nears completion

Construction of the Joint Office Building on East Gardener Road in Patna is also at an advanced stage.

Plastering and putty work are currently underway. Secretary Pranav Kumar directed officials to complete the remaining work at the earliest.

The building is expected to facilitate smoother administrative operations by bringing offices and related functions together under one facility.

Jeevika headquarters project reviewed

The meeting also reviewed plans for the proposed Jeevika Headquarters building.

The headquarters is planned on a 0.92-acre plot and will have a G+7 structure. Officials discussed the construction plan and progress related to the project.

Engineering College and SDRF projects reviewed

Construction of additional facilities at the Government Engineering College campus in Banka is progressing. The projects include an administrative block, boys’ and girls’ hostels and a guest house.

The Secretary also reviewed the remaining construction work at the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) facility in Bihta and directed officials to expedite its completion.

He warned that action would be taken against the concerned agency if the work was not completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Officials directed to remove project bottlenecks

During the meeting, Pranav Kumar directed officials and engineers to identify and resolve hurdles affecting the progress of ongoing projects.

He instructed officials to complete all schemes within their prescribed deadlines and conduct regular inspections of construction sites.

The Secretary emphasised that both construction quality and adherence to timelines would remain priorities, making it clear that there would be no compromise on either front.
