Patna: A comprehensive review of ongoing infrastructure schemes under the Building Construction Department was conducted on June 18, through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Secretary Pranav Kumar.

The meeting assessed progress across multiple departments, including Science, Technology and Technical Education; Minority Welfare; Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare; and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare. Officials reviewed construction works related to government buildings, engineering institutions, residential schools, and hostels across Bihar.

University and College Infrastructure Under Review

Key focus was placed on the ongoing development of Bihar Engineering University at Mithapur. Officials confirmed that the campus is targeted for completion by July 2026.

The review also covered the construction of a 600-seat auditorium and administrative infrastructure at Bhagalpur Engineering College. At Gaya Engineering College, officials were instructed to expedite tendering processes for an architecture department building along with 300-bed boys’ and 200-bed girls’ hostels.

Residential School Projects Given Deadlines

The meeting reviewed progress on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar 10+2 residential schools and associated welfare hostels being constructed in multiple districts, including Araria, Aurangabad and Samastipur.

The residential school at Narpatganj, currently in its final phase of finishing and painting, has been directed for completion by July 15, 2026. In addition, the 520-seat residential school at Dhanupura has been scheduled for completion by the end of June.

Minority and Welfare Infrastructure Progress

Construction of minority welfare infrastructure, including madrasa buildings, 100-bed girls’ hostels and residential offices for District Minority Welfare Officers, was also reviewed across districts such as Madhubani, Samastipur, Jamui, Supaul and Gaya.

Similarly, progress on hostels and residential schools for Other Backward Classes students in Bhojpur, Vaishali and Sitamarhi was assessed.

Strict Quality and Timeline Directives

Secretary Pranav Kumar issued strict instructions to all executive engineers to ensure timely completion of projects without compromising construction quality. He stressed that no deviation from standards would be tolerated at any stage.

He further directed that additional workforce be deployed wherever delays are identified and warned that contractors responsible for unnecessary delays may face debarment.

Officials were also instructed to ensure regular site inspections and faster completion of near-finished projects before handover to respective departments.

The secretary reiterated that residential schools and hostels remain among the government’s top priorities, and delays in their execution will not be accepted.
