Patna: The Bihar cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has approved 26 key proposals across sectors including industry, employment, and agriculture, with one of the most significant decisions aimed at expanding the state’s air connectivity.
In a major move, the cabinet has cleared a policy enabling international flights to operate directly from Bihar, including from the state capital, Patna. The decision is expected to make overseas travel significantly more convenient for residents.
Currently, passengers from Bihar traveling abroad often have to transit through other cities. With the new policy, direct international flights will soon be available, initially from Gaya airport to destinations such as Thailand, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, work on an international terminal at Patna airport is progressing rapidly, with direct services to Kathmandu, Singapore, and Bangkok expected to commence by March 2025.
The cabinet also approved an increase in the honorarium for farmer advisors, underlining the government’s continued focus on agricultural support.
