Patna: The Bihar Cabinet on Wednesday approved 22 proposals spanning urban development, healthcare, agriculture, education, transport and renewable energy, including plans to acquire land for Greenfield satellite townships and expand AIIMS Patna.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, cleared projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, public services and economic development across the state.
Land Acquisition For Satellite Townships
The Cabinet approved land acquisition for the development of Greenfield satellite townships in Patna, Sonepur, Gaya and Muzaffarpur.
According to the government, the proposed townships will be developed with essential infrastructure, including roads, water supply, electricity and other civic amenities, to support planned urban expansion.
AIIMS Patna Expansion Approved
The Cabinet also approved the acquisition of 26.76 acres of land in the Bhusaula area of Danapur for the expansion of AIIMS Patna.
The state government sanctioned approximately Rs 348 crore for the land acquisition to facilitate the institute’s future expansion.
500 MW Rooftop Solar Programme
Under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign, the Cabinet approved the installation of rooftop solar power plants on government-owned and government-controlled buildings.
The programme aims to install 500 MW of solar capacity between the 2025-26 and 2029-30 financial years to reduce electricity consumption and increase the use of renewable energy.
Agriculture And Digital Farming Initiatives
The government approved a mission to promote self-reliance in pulse production by encouraging cultivation during the Kharif, Rabi and Garma seasons.
The Cabinet also sanctioned funds for a farmer registry and digital crop surveys under the Digital Agriculture Mission to improve agricultural planning and service delivery.
RRTS And Bridge Repair Projects
The Cabinet approved the preparation of the Alternative Analysis Report and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) across four corridors, with an allocation of about Rs 31.59 crore.
It also granted administrative approval of more than Rs 126 crore for the repair and restoration of the Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur.
Fisheries And Industrial Land Decisions
To strengthen the fisheries sector, the government approved the establishment of the Bihar Aquaculture Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited.
The Cabinet also sanctioned more than Rs 63 crore for payment to Indian Potash Limited in connection with the land dispute involving the closed Motipur Sugar Mill in Muzaffarpur, in compliance with a court order.
Youth Welfare And Education
The Cabinet extended the Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana for another five years, approving an allocation of Rs 300 crore for implementation between the 2026-27 and 2030-31 financial years.
It also approved the transfer of land to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for new Kendriya Vidyalayas in Madhubani, Munger and Muzaffarpur.
In higher education, the government approved the creation of 76 academic posts for MTech programmes in 10 state engineering colleges and Bihar Engineering University.
Honorarium For Election Officials
The Cabinet approved a proposal from the Election Department to provide an annual honorarium to Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
According to the state government, the decisions are intended to strengthen infrastructure, expand public services and support development across multiple sectors in Bihar.
