Patna: Gandhi Maidan has been turned into a high-security zone ahead of the planned expansion of Bihar’s cabinet on May 7, with authorities deploying thousands of personnel and dividing the venue into multiple controlled sections.
Preparations are under way in the state capital, where several ministers are expected to be sworn in as part of what is being described as a significant reshuffle following the formation of the new government. Officials said the ceremony site would be split into four zones to manage crowd flow and security.
The Patna district administration has intensified arrangements across the city, particularly along the route from the airport to the venue. Security has been tightened amid speculation that senior national leaders, including the prime minister, may attend the ceremony.
Around 3,000 security personnel are expected to be deployed in and around the grounds, with surveillance measures extended across the entire area. Seating arrangements are being put in place for a crowd of up to 150,000 people, underscoring the scale of the event.
Political activity has also gathered pace in the run-up to the ceremony. A meeting chaired by Nitin Nabin was scheduled at the party’s state office, with legislators and senior leaders in attendance to coordinate preparations.
While there has been no official confirmation of the final guest list, figures such as Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and J. P. Nadda are widely expected to be present, along with senior state leaders including Nitish Kumar.
Authorities are also preparing contingency infrastructure, including a helipad at the venue, in anticipation of VIP movement.
