Patna: The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved 29 agenda items, including the launch of a financial assistance scheme for Sindhu Darshan pilgrims, the transfer of land for a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) battalion in Gaya, and a series of measures related to healthcare regulation, mining administration and social welfare.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Financial Assistance For Sindhu Darshan Pilgrims
Among the key decisions was the approval of the Sindhu Darshan Pilgrimage Financial Assistance Grant Scheme, 2026.
The scheme aims to enable permanent residents of Bihar to visit the Indus (Sindhu) River in Ladakh and gain a deeper understanding of India’s cultural and civilisational heritage.
Under the scheme, pilgrims will receive financial assistance equivalent to 50% of their travel expenses or Rs 20,000 per person, whichever is applicable, after completing the pilgrimage.
Officials said the initiative is intended to help devotees who may otherwise be unable to undertake the journey because of financial constraints.
Funds Approved For SC Development Corporation
The cabinet also approved the allocation of Rs 21.95 crore to the Scheduled Caste Cooperative Development Corporation.
The funds will be used to repay outstanding term loan liabilities owed to the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC).
Officials said the decision would help strengthen the corporation’s financial position and facilitate the continuation of welfare programmes.
Healthcare Council Rules To Be Amended
In another decision, the cabinet approved the formulation of new rules to amend the regulatory framework governing the Bihar State Allied and Healthcare Council under the Health Department.
The proposed Bihar State Allied and Healthcare Council Rules, 2026, are aimed at improving the functioning, regulation and oversight of allied healthcare services across the state.
The government said the changes would contribute to strengthening healthcare governance and service delivery.
Mining Corporation To Lead Stone Mining Clearances
The cabinet designated the Bihar State Mining Corporation as the nodal agency for preparing mining plans and obtaining environmental clearances before the e-auction of identified stone mining areas.
Officials said the move is expected to streamline the approval process and ensure compliance with environmental regulations before mining activities commence.
50 Acres Land For CISF Reserve Battalion
The cabinet also approved the transfer of 50 acres of government land to the Central Government for the establishment of a CISF reserve battalion in Gaya district.
The land will be transferred free of cost for the project.
Officials said the proposed battalion would strengthen security infrastructure in the region and enhance the CISF’s operational capabilities.
The decisions approved during the cabinet meeting reflect the government’s focus on tourism promotion, social welfare, institutional reforms and infrastructure development, while also addressing issues related to security and resource management.
