Patna: The Bihar Transport Department has issued a final warning to around 80 bus operators whose vehicles are running on incomplete or irregular permits, threatening cancellation if documentation is not submitted by January 15, 2026.
The buses in question operate on inter-district routes across the state as well as interstate routes to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal. Operators have been asked to submit pending documents — including challans, pollution certificates, permit surrender forms, affidavits, and outstanding permit fees — at the office of the State Transport Commissioner in Visvesvaraya Bhavan.
“These vehicle owners were granted permits with certain conditions during earlier meetings of the transport authority,” a departmental spokesperson said. “Despite repeated reminders, the required documents have not been submitted.”
Affected routes include Patna-Madhubani, Biharsharif-Sonvarsha, Sasaram-Bokaro, Gaya-Ranchi, Bettiah-Tata, Jaynagar-Patna, Rajgir-Kolkata, Purnea-Muzaffarpur, Patna-Hazaribagh, Raxaul-Gorakhpur, and Thakurganj-Siliguri, among others.
Separately, the department has invited suggestions for proposed bus operations between Bihar and Delhi. The draft agreement is open for public comment, with hearings scheduled at the State Transport Commissioner’s office on January 5, 2026. The same deadline applies for feedback on interstate routes within the state.
