Patna: As the city prepares to welcome large crowds for Chhath Puja, Patna railway stations have seen extensive security and crowd management measures ahead of the annual festival.
In a bid to ensure passenger safety, 30 magistrates and police officers have been deployed in three shifts across Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Station, and Danapur Station. District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan S.M. instructed officials to coordinate closely with railway authorities to manage crowds and maintain order during the celebrations.
Medical teams have been placed on alert, equipped with life-saving medicines and ambulances, to respond to any emergencies. Passengers’ entry and exit points are being strictly monitored, and holding areas have been created at major stations to manage high volumes of travelers. Danapur has two holding areas, while Patna has three—two on the Mahavir Mandir side and one on the Karbigahia side. Rajendra Nagar Terminal has one designated area.
On Tuesday night, key railway officials, including the Chief Operations Manager of Hajipur and the DRM of Danapur division, inspected Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patna Junction to review crowd management plans and issue additional instructions for passenger convenience. Station staff and the Railway Protection Force have been ordered to remain vigilant at all times to prevent any lapses in security.
With Chhath Puja drawing millions of devotees, these measures aim to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience during one of Bihar’s most significant festivals.
