Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has assigned additional legislative responsibilities to three senior cabinet ministers, authorising them to respond to questions, calling-attention motions and other business related to specified departments during upcoming Assembly sessions.
According to an official communication from Anjani Kumar, Joint Secretary at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, a letter has been sent to the Additional Secretary of the Parliamentary Affairs Department confirming the delegation of responsibilities.
Legislative Delegation
Under the arrangement, the selected ministers will act as the Chief Minister’s representatives in the Legislative Assembly for specific departmental matters.
Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has been assigned responsibility to respond to questions related to the General Administration Department, the Cabinet Secretariat Department and the Civil Aviation Department.
Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will handle legislative responses concerning the Home Department.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra has been entrusted with answering questions and addressing calling-attention motions related to the Vigilance Department and the Election Department.
Portfolio-Based Responsibilities
The official order specifies that the ministers will manage legislative replies for matters falling under their allocated departments during the session, ensuring smoother handling of Assembly proceedings.
Nitish Mishra, the only BJP representative among the three, currently holds the Urban Development and Housing portfolio. He has previously served in various ministerial roles, including the Industries Department in earlier state governments.
Administrative Context
The delegation is aimed at streamlining the government’s response mechanism in the Assembly, allowing designated ministers to directly address departmental queries and motions on behalf of the Chief Minister.
