Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening coordination between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and its organisational leadership. Among the key announcements was a district-wise tour after August 15 to review development works and improve grassroots governance.
Addressing a meeting of senior Bihar NDA leaders, state presidents and district presidents at Lok Sevak Awas under the Nek Samvad initiative, the Chief Minister said he would personally visit every district, review the progress of development projects and stay overnight during the visits to better understand local issues.
The meeting focused on the effective implementation of public welfare schemes and improving coordination between the government and the NDA organisation.
Choudhary said former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had established the tradition of holding regular interactions with NDA leaders and district presidents, helping strengthen the alliance in Bihar. He added that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to work towards building a developed India, the state government will institutionalise regular dialogue with alliance partners.
Under the new arrangement, the Chief Minister will hold meetings with the state presidents of all five NDA constituent parties at least once every three months to discuss governance issues and address organisational feedback.
During the meeting, several district presidents raised concerns regarding coordination with ministers in charge of their respective districts. It was decided that ministers will now inform all NDA district presidents before visiting their assigned districts, and district presidents will also participate in official review meetings.
Five Special Public Welfare Days Every Month
The Chief Minister announced that the Bihar government has designated five special working days each month for public welfare initiatives.
On the first and third Tuesdays of every month, assistance camps will be organised at the block level to address citizens’ grievances. If an applicant’s issue remains unresolved, it will be taken up at a state-level assistance camp chaired by the Chief Minister on the second Tuesday of the month.
Choudhary said ensuring quick relief and justice for citizens remains one of the government’s highest priorities.
He also highlighted that pension benefits under the Social Security Pension Scheme are transferred directly to the bank accounts of nearly one crore beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on the 10th of every month.
Pension Increased, Medical Colleges Planned
The Chief Minister said the monthly pension amount has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100, attributing the decision to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
To promote rural development and public participation, the government will continue observing the last Sunday of every month as ‘Panchayat Development Day’.
Choudhary further announced that the state aims to begin construction of medical colleges and hospitals in all districts under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model before March next year.
He added that suggestions received through the 20-Point Programme Committee and Citizens’ Council meetings would be considered for policy decisions, and district-level committees may also be constituted wherever required.
The meeting was addressed by Nitish Kumar, National President of the Janata Dal (United); the party’s National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha; Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and Giriraj Singh; National Lok Morcha President Upendra Kushwaha; Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav; state presidents of NDA constituent parties; ministers of the Bihar Cabinet; and NDA district presidents from seven districts.
