Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh advisory for Patna after 46.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Anisabad between 5.30 pm on July 10 and 8.30 am on July 11, warning that moderate rain is likely to continue over parts of the city for the next two hours.
According to the IMD’s 9 am bulletin, Patna could receive an additional 30–40 mm of rainfall, taking the estimated cumulative rainfall between 5.30 pm on July 10 and 5.30 pm on July 11 to 75–85 mm.
Waterlogging And Traffic Disruptions Likely
The weather office has warned that continued rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, underpasses and locations with poor drainage.
The IMD also cautioned that commuters may face traffic congestion, slow-moving vehicles, reduced visibility and slippery roads across major roads and busy intersections.
Localised flooding in vulnerable residential neighbourhoods and minor disruptions to transport and routine urban activities are also possible.
Residents Advised To Avoid Unnecessary Travel
The IMD has advised residents to avoid non-essential travel during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, drive cautiously and stay away from waterlogged stretches.
The department has also urged civic agencies to ensure drainage systems remain operational and to stay prepared to respond to localised flooding.
