Patna: The Congress party will launch a campaign titled “20 Saal, 20 Sawal (Twenty Years, Twenty Questions)” to target the NDA government in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, senior leader Kanhaiya Kumar announced on Saturday. Speaking at Sadakat Ashram in Patna, Kanhaiya said that each day, Congress leaders would put forward one question on behalf of the people, challenging the ruling alliance to account for its performance over the last two decades.

The first question centred on the Pirpainti power plant. Kanhaiya alleged that the project, which was initiated under the UPA government as a joint venture between the Centre and the state, was later handed over to Adani Group under dubious circumstances. “Why was cheap land taken from farmers only to allow electricity to be purchased at inflated rates? In other states, Adani contracts at Rs 3 per unit, but in Bihar it is Rs 6. This would have saved Bihar Rs 56,000 crore,” he said, accusing the NDA of running a ‘donations for business’ model.

Kanhaiya also accused the NDA of “vote theft” and joined state Congress president Rajesh Ram in questioning the credibility of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Ram said that while the Election Commission claimed success, the number of deletions far outweighed additions, and many eligible voters were deliberately excluded. “The SIR has been a sham from the beginning, conducted with such opacity that even the court had to intervene,” Ram added.
Congress leaders said the campaign will continue until polling, focusing on corruption, governance failures and the NDA’s alleged misuse of public resources. “We will not stop raising questions on behalf of the people until accountability is ensured,” Kanhaiya said.
