Patna: The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has appointed a new executive committee after unopposed elections on Sunday, with 24-year-old Harshvardhan becoming the youngest president in the history of Indian state cricket associations. Harshvardhan, the son of former BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, has sparked widespread attention within Bihar and across the country’s cricketing circles.
Priya Kumari was elected vice-president, Ziaul Arifin as secretary, Abhishek Nandan as treasurer, and Rohit Kumar as joint secretary. All office bearers were elected unopposed, forming a notably youthful committee with members aged between 24 and 50.
In addition, Rajesh Kumar and Gyaneshwar Gautam were appointed to the District Representative Committee and Governing Council, respectively. The elections were overseen by M. Mudassir, a retired IAS officer, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
In a statement, the BCA emphasised its commitment to strengthening cricket infrastructure in Bihar. “Unless players have access to better grounds, training facilities, and modern resources, Bihar cricket will not be able to establish a strong national identity,” the association said.
The new executive committee plans to focus on nurturing young talent, particularly from rural areas and smaller towns, through district-level tournaments, training camps, and enhanced coaching programmes.
“My goal is to take Bihar cricket to new heights while maintaining unity within the organisation. All the office bearers will work together to strengthen cricket in Bihar, and in the coming years, we aim to produce national and international level players from here,” Harshvardhan said.
