Patna: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Monday launched a sharp attack on Bihar deputy chief minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, alleging that he concealed his true age in connection with a 1995 murder case in Patna that left six people dead. Kishor claimed Choudhary had presented himself as a minor at the time but later stated in his 2020 election affidavit that he was 50 years old, which would make him 25 in 1995.
Addressing reporters in Patna, Kishor said: “This is a clear case of forgery. He escaped legal action by claiming minority status in 1995, but his own affidavit proves otherwise. He should be arrested without any delay.” Kishor announced that a Jan Suraaj delegation would meet governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Tuesday to press for Choudhary’s arrest.
Kishor also raised questions over Choudhary’s alleged links to the 1999 Shilpi-Gautam rape and murder case, a high-profile case in which CBI investigations were carried out. “Choudhary should clarify whether he was not an accused in that case and whether he was quizzed by the CBI. He must explain if these details were concealed in his affidavits,” Kishor said.
He further alleged that the case had been politically sidetracked at the time because RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s brother-in-law, Sadhu Yadav, was allegedly involved, and the RJD was part of the UPA government.
The allegations come amid heightened political tensions in Bihar as parties prepare for the 2025 assembly elections.
