Patna: Vehicle owners in Bihar have been given a clear deadline to get their driving licenses and vehicle registrations completed. The state Transport Department has ordered that all pending cases must be resolved by January 31. This announcement was made by State Transport Commissioner Arif Ahsan during a video conference with District Transport Officers from across the state. Special attention will be given to cases that have been pending for more than six months or a year.
Commissioner Ahsan said that timely service delivery is very important for citizens. He said that unregistered vehicles should not be allowed on the roads. Officials have been instructed to bring all pending cases to zero by the end of January. The meeting also reviewed other services like permits, motor driving schools, and bus stops, showing the department’s focus on improving efficiency.
The conference also addressed delays caused by dealers and agencies. Many registrations have been held up because dealers did not complete their work on time. District Transport Officers were told to meet with the dealers and ensure pending cases are cleared immediately. Dealers who fail to comply may have their login IDs cancelled, stopping them from processing registrations.
Road safety was another key focus. The Transport Commissioner instructed that helmet and seatbelt awareness campaigns should be strengthened. Legal action must be taken against violators, as these safety measures save lives in accidents. Mirrors and reflective signs will also be installed at curves, blind spots, and T-junctions on highways to reduce accidents. The government aims to make roads safer while ensuring that services to citizens are quick and efficient.
