Patna: An FIR has been registered at the Cyber Police Station in Patna after Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav allegedly received threatening and abusive phone calls from an unidentified individual.
The complaint was lodged by Virendra Kumar, the Deputy Chief Minister’s Private Secretary. Following the complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation into the matter.
According to information provided to investigators, the caller contacted the Deputy Chief Minister’s mobile phone and claimed that a parcel had been booked in his name.
When Bijendra Prasad Yadav reportedly denied booking any parcel and rejected the claim, the caller allegedly continued making repeated calls. During these conversations, the accused is said to have used abusive language and issued threats.
Police Probe Underway
Cyber Police have started tracing the mobile number used to make the calls. Officials are attempting to identify the person behind the incident and determine the motive for the alleged threats.
Police sources said efforts are being made to gather technical evidence and locate the caller at the earliest.
Suspicion of Cyber Fraud Network
Investigators suspect the incident could be linked to cyber criminals employing fraudulent tactics that have become increasingly common in recent months.
According to police sources, cyber fraudsters frequently contact individuals claiming that parcels have been booked in their names or contain suspicious items. Such calls are often used to intimidate victims and pressure them into sharing personal information or transferring money.
Authorities are examining whether the call received by the Deputy Chief Minister was part of a broader cyber fraud operation.
Investigation Continues
Police officials said the investigation remains ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings of the technical analysis and identification of the caller.
No arrests had been reported in the case at the time of writing.
