New Delhi: A large gathering of policymakers, entrepreneurs and civil society representatives convened at Talkatora Stadium for the Bihar Development Summit 2026, a national event aimed at advancing the vision of a developed Bihar by 2047. Organised by Let’s Inspire Bihar, the summit recorded more than 5,000 registrations and drew participants from across India and overseas, signalling growing interest in citizen-led development initiatives.
The programme was inaugurated by Union minister Giriraj Singh, with Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and industries minister Dilip Jaiswal attending as chief guests. Senior IPS officer Vikas Vaibhav, who leads the campaign, described the event as a platform for individuals committed to contributing to Bihar’s economic and social transformation.
Speakers emphasised entrepreneurship and structural reforms as central to reducing migration and expanding employment opportunities. The Let’s Inspire Bihar movement, launched in 2021, aims to build an ecosystem supporting start-ups and self-employment, with a target of establishing five start-ups in every district by 2028. Organisers said roughly 600 start-ups are already associated with the platform, while education initiatives under its Gargi chapter are providing free learning support to thousands of underprivileged children.
In his keynote address, Vaibhav said the summit represented a “congregation of commitment” rather than a symbolic gathering, urging citizens to assume responsibility for Bihar’s future. He argued that restoring dignity to the state’s identity and fostering unity across caste and community lines were essential to achieving long-term development goals.
Addressing the audience, Giriraj Singh said Bihar’s progress was crucial to India’s broader economic growth, highlighting the potential of textiles, MSMEs and rural industries to generate employment. Vijay Kumar Sinha pointed to governance reforms, particularly in land and revenue management, as prerequisites for investment, while Dilip Jaiswal stressed the need for parallel industrial and infrastructure expansion to sustain growth.
The summit also featured cultural performances and participation from public representatives, entrepreneurs and international delegates. Organisers said the event concluded with a collective pledge to advance the Viksit Bihar vision through coordinated action across districts and panchayats, marking what they described as a significant milestone in the campaign’s evolution into a nationwide developmental platform.
