Patna: Even as the NDA and the Grand Alliance are yet to finalise their candidate lists, symbol distribution has already begun in both camps, signalling early moves in Bihar’s election preparations.
In the Grand Alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has begun handing out tickets to several candidates. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, who recently switched sides from Janata Dal (United) to the RJD, has been given the party symbol for the Parbatta Assembly constituency. Lalu Prasad Yadav has also fielded Bogo Singh from Mathihani, Deepu Singh from Sandesh, his brother Virendra from Maner, and Rekha Paswan from Masaurhi.
On the NDA side, Anant Singh — the former Mokama MLA who announced his nomination plans for October 14 — received the JD(U) symbol on Sunday. His representative, Kanjay Singh, collected the symbol on his behalf, clearing the path for his formal nomination filing.
Meanwhile, RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is expected to file his nomination from the Raghopur seat on October 15, further energising the Grand Alliance’s campaign momentum.
While both alliances continue to hold internal discussions over seat-sharing and final candidate lists, the early symbol distribution reflects growing urgency as the election season intensifies.
