Samastipur: In a high-energy address at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Samastipur, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lashed out at Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, alleging that they “never worked for women” during their long tenure in power. The rally, held at Dudhpura grounds, saw Nitish striking a dual tone of criticism and celebration — denouncing the opposition while hailing PM Modi’s developmental efforts in the state.
“They had 15 years, yet they did nothing for women. They only worked for their own family,” Kumar said, referring to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) regime. Without naming her directly, he added, “When he had to step down, he made his wife the Chief Minister. That’s all they know — family politics.”
The Chief Minister drew a sharp contrast between his governance model and that of the Lalu era, claiming that the NDA’s rule since 2005 had transformed Bihar’s fortunes. “Before 2005, people were in distress. Now, under NDA and with PM Modi’s guidance, the state is progressing. Nearly 21 lakh women have received financial aid through government schemes,” he said, emphasizing women-led development as the cornerstone of Bihar’s progress.
Nitish Kumar also praised Modi’s leadership, describing him as “a Prime Minister who truly works for Bihar.” He pointed out that the rally venue, the native village of late socialist leader Karpoori Thakur, symbolised the state’s legacy of social justice and empowerment.
Reiterating his call for unity within the NDA, Nitish urged the crowd to “stay together” and “vote only for NDA candidates.” He reminded supporters that PM Modi’s next stop would be Begusarai, underscoring the BJP-JD(U) alliance’s joint push ahead of the polls.
