Patna: The Jan Suraj Party, led by political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor, has released its second list of candidates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. A total of 66 candidates have been announced, following the first list of 51 released earlier.
Making the announcement, Kishor said the new list reflects the party’s commitment to inclusive representation across castes and regions. The candidates announced include Abhaykant Jha from Bhagalpur, Dr Shahnavaz from Barharia, Neeraj Singh from Sheohar, Lalbabu Yadav from Narkatiaganj, Mantosh Sahni from Kalyanpur, Rajeev Ranjan Singh from Sandesh, Azam Anwar Hussain from Bajpatti, Ratneshwar Thakur from Harlakhi, Janardan Yadav from Narpatganj, and Tanuja Kumari from Islampur.
Introducing Bhagalpur candidate Abhaykant Jha, Kishor said Jha was known not just as a lawyer but as a humanitarian who had supported the Muslim community during the Bhagalpur riots. “He fought their cases free of cost and ensured safety for those displaced. I welcome him to the Jan Suraj movement,” he added.
Kishor reiterated his long-stated principle of ensuring representation in proportion to population share. “What we promised — participation according to each community’s strength — we are fulfilling. When our list of 243 is complete, hardly any community will remain unrepresented,” he said.
The Jan Suraj founder also emphasised his party’s outreach to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs). “In Bihar’s history, no political party has given such responsibility to the most backward classes. One-third of our seats have gone to them,” Kishor said, welcoming Ramchandra Sahni, a prominent figure from the community, into the party.
